Cass Café: a circular café in Montreal.

  • Circular & Conscious

We embrace a circular approach, acknowledging that human activities inevitably generate waste. Our goal is to minimize this impact by ensuring our takeout cups decompose into soil within 180 days. We actively raise awareness about environmental and social issues through documentary nights and workshops. Additionally, we use the Breeze tool to assess and manage our greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Transparency

Transparency is of utmost importance to us. We are committed to providing a clear and open view of our sourcing practices. Every producer associated with our products will be clearly labeled, accompanied by a comprehensive report of their production methods. This deliberate effort not only underscores our dedication to transparency but also fosters a sense of loyalty among our valued customers, who can engage confidently with our offerings, knowing the integrity of their origins.

  • Awareness

Our commitment extends beyond our menu. We will organize sustainability-focused events, such as documentary nights showcasing sustainable living in Montreal. Furthermore, we will invite our coffee growers and other producers to share their perspectives and experiences at these gatherings, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable practices.

  • Vegan

Recognizing the significant environmental impact of meat production and livestock management, our café is committed to being 100% vegan. Our goal is to demonstrate that a balanced and healthy lifestyle can be achieved without compromising the well-being of our planet.

  • Local

Supporting local Quebec businesses is a value that is dear to us. That's why all our products come from Quebec. To learn more, please click here.

  • Transform

Our goal is to demonstrate that businesses, regardless of their size, can be at the forefront of sustainability, surpassing expected standards. We are committed to initiating environmentally-friendly initiatives. Sustainability is not exclusive to specialized zero-waste stores; it's a requirement for everyone. Zero waste isn't a luxury; it's a necessity.

What Makes Us Cicular?

We minimize waste production and reduce its impact by promoting prevention, reuse, recycling, and composting, with the goal of avoiding overburdening landfills and incinerators.

What Sustainability Means To Us

We actively encourage our customers to bring their own containers when purchasing pastries, offering a 5% discount as an incentive to make sustainable choices.

For those who prefer to take their coffee to go, we provide a reusable cup from La Vague, which can be returned to one of our over 100 partner locations in Montreal. We are also partnering with SoFi and Cambium cups, which are 100% compostable to-go cups, the type of compostable that doesn’t require a special separate facility. It breaks down naturally within 90 days.

In partnership with DAM, we offer concentrated plant-based milk in reusable containers, contributing to waste reduction efforts.

We have also partnered with Café Binocle, the very first 100% carbon-neutral certified café in Quebec.

We take pride in maintaining a 100% vegan approach and collaborating with Cafe Dei Campi for our delicious pastries, all sourced from reusable containers, further reinforcing our commitment to zero waste.

Additionally, we collaborate with "c'est beau co." for our merchandise. Their basics are made in Quebec, and the ink used for the shirts is recyclable.

We Are Taking It Further

We measure all our carbon emissions using a sophisticated tool called Breeze. Furthermore, we actively offset all emissions stemming from transportation, electricity, and water consumption by doubling our carbon credits.

The coffee grounds we use are available for plant enthusiasts to use as fertilizer for their plants. Just ask us for them!
